By creating an account or using the Share Our Harvest mobile app (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm you meet that age and can form a binding agreement.
You sign in through our authentication provider and choose a handle and display name. You're responsible for activity under your account. Keep your sign-in method secure. We never ask for your real name, and you should not impersonate someone else.
Share Our Harvest is a community platform where neighbors offer and request everyday help and giving. We provide the platform; the giving, requests, and any in-person or off-app interactions are between users. We are not a party to those exchanges and do not guarantee any item, offer, request, or person.
You agree not to post or do anything that is unlawful, harmful, hateful, harassing, deceptive, sexually explicit, dangerous, or that endangers or exploits children; not to spam, scam, or solicit; not to infringe others' rights; and not to misuse or attempt to break the Service. Give and ask in good faith.
Content you submit — including posts, requests, offers, comments, display names, bios, and avatars — is reviewed before it appears and may be withheld or removed. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms or threaten the community. Removed content is generally marked deleted and hidden rather than immediately erased.
You keep ownership of the content you create. You grant Share Our Harvest a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, to resize images or generate previews), display, and distribute your content within and for the operation of the Service, including moderation. This license ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except for copies retained for safety, legal, or backup purposes.
Meeting people and exchanging items carries real-world risk. You are responsible for your own safety and judgment. Share Our Harvest does not vet users or items, is not responsible for the conduct of any user or the quality, safety, or legality of anything given or received, and is not liable for any in-person interaction. Use common-sense caution, especially when meeting in person.
If you choose phone sign-in, you consent to receive a one-time login code by SMS. Message frequency depends on your sign-ins; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle your number.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any giving or request will result in a successful exchange.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Share Our Harvest and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service or from interactions with other users.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the community.
We may update these Terms; we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
