Share Our Harvest ("Share Our Harvest," "we," "us") operates the Share Our Harvest mobile app, a community where neighbors give and request everyday help. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Account and sign-in. When you create an account we use Auth0 to authenticate you. Depending on how you sign in, we receive: - A unique account identifier. - If you use phone sign-in: your mobile phone number, used to deliver a one-time verification code. - If you use a social login (e.g., Google): a basic identifier from that provider. We do not request or store your email address.
Profile. A handle (e.g., @riverside_ruth), a display name, and optionally a short bio, a city-level area, one link, and an avatar image. Your legal/real name is never requested or displayed.
Content you create. Giving posts, requests, offers, comments, and any photos or videos you attach, along with a category and any caption text.
Location. For a giving post you may share a location. You choose exact or approximate: if you choose approximate, we store only a blurred point (roughly within a kilometer) and never store the precise coordinates. An optional saved "home area" is private, blurred the same way, and never shown publicly.
Device and notifications. If you enable push notifications, a device push token. Optionally, a point and radius you set for "nearby need" alerts.
Usage and logs. Basic technical data such as app version, device type, and event logs needed to operate and secure the service.
If you sign in with your phone number, we send a one-time login code by text. This is transactional messaging tied to your sign-in — not marketing.
To keep the community safe, everything with user-provided text or media — posts, requests, offers, comments, display names, bios, and avatars — is reviewed before it appears. We use automated screening (including Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety) and human admin review of anything flagged.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the app, under contract and only as needed:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our community.
We practice soft deletion: when something is removed it is marked deleted and hidden from the app rather than immediately erased, which helps with safety review and abuse prevention. When you delete your account, we scrub or disassociate your personal profile information. You can request deletion at any time (see Contact).
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit what we collect in the first place.
Share Our Harvest is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
You can access and update your profile in the app, control notification settings, and request correction or deletion of your information. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under US state privacy laws); contact us to exercise them.
We may update this policy; we'll change the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
